July 19 : Protest in front of the gate and closure of the seawall

(In front of the gate)
At around 08:30, approximately 40 residents began a sit-in protest in the narrow passage. Around 30 riot police mobilized and removed all the protesters by around 09:00. All sit-in participants gave three cheers of “Let’s persevere!” upon hearing media reports that Governor Onaga is close to reaching a decision to revoke approval for the landfill.

Because there were concerns that the opening used to deliver earth would be closed, two protest boats set out in strong winds and heavy seas caused by the approaching typhoon No. 10. They approached the opening and shouted, “Don’t kill the sea” and “Stop working – there is still time” at the workers. Around 14:00, the opening was closed by gravel.
