July 15: Installation of barricades to obstruct protest activities

(In front of the gate)
The Okinawa Defense Bureau installed new barricades at the entrance/exit gate used by construction vehicles. Work began last night at around 22:30, and the barriers were installed by several dozen workers working through the night. Work was completed at 6:00 the next morning. The newly installed barricades are approximately 42 m in length, and have stolen space from the residents who had been conducting protest activities, making sit-in protests difficult. Several residents who learned of the barricade installation gathered in the middle of the night and continued monitoring until morning.
