Apr. 20 (Sat): Confirmed construction of K8 Seawall in progress/ Head-on Confrontation on the New Base in the Election for a Vacancy

(In Front of the Gate)
No delivery was made today. Approximately 130 people walked rallying from the Gate to the 3rd gate where you have a good view of Oura Bay.
“Stop construction immediately!”
“Don’t destroy the sea!”
In the afternoon, we went to support our candidate in an election for a vacancy in the House of Representatives.

Two boats and 8 canoes went out on the sea to protest. Near K8 seawall, all canoe members raised a war cry and tried to go over the floats, but were immediately restrained by the Coast Guard and brought back to the beach.
Due to strong winds, the afternoon rally was canceled.

The voting day for an election of a House of Representatives for a position vacated by Governor Tamaki, is pending tomorrow. We support Mr. Yara Tomohiro who openly opposes construction of the new base. A candidate supported by the leading party has expressed her “tough decision” to continue construction of the new base in Henoko. This is the first House election in which the candidates confront squarely on the issue of construction of the new base in Henoko.
If we lose the election, the Administration will claim that “the will of Okinawa is confirmed” and continue construction of the new base. This is the epoch making election for Okinawa.
The pictures show Mr. Yara Tomohiro and Ms. Shimajiri Aiko.
