Dec 25 (Fri): Gospel in front of the Gate / Christmas decoration on military vehicles!?

(In front of Camp Schwab Gate)

Approximately 30 people started the sit-in rally from 8:30 am. A total of 105 trucks in three separate convoys went through the entrance. No concrete mixer trucks. Today seems to be the last day of operation here in this calendar year.

The Midori-ga-Oka Nursery principal, Mr. Takehiro  Kamiya, headed a group of five, joined the protest. It was in Dec 2017 when a U.S. military helicopter dropped its part onto the nursery. Last week, however, the Okinawa police force closed the investigation because the police “could not prove the part came from the U.S. forces.” Kamiya Principal reported that they are requesting to continue the investigation, “We are not satisfied with the police decision because the U.S. forces admit the part was one of those used by the forces.” He also said, “The children are frightened.” He also told the protesters that the nursery’s parents sent the president-elect Biden a letter urging to stop the flights over the nurseries. His group, “Choir to sing Gospel in front of Camp Schwab Gate,” sang under the beautiful winter sky.

The U.S. forces decorated their military vehicles with Christmas ornaments, which appeared very cynical and hard to swallow — to set a Saint Clouse on the U.S. military vehicles that are killing machines and threats to people. I suppose they put Christmas ornaments on the very helicopter that dropped its part to the nursery.

The Naha public prosecutor’s office decided not to prosecute and released the woman arrested unlawfully in front of the Gate on 22. The release is as it should have been. The Okinawa police force has repeated such actions. They have repeatedly made unreasonable arrests to suppress the protest movement, which only lowers the prosecution rate per arrest and ranks them at the bottom of Japan’s police forces.

Nearly 20 members of Okinawa Heiwa Shimin Rennraku-kai (Okinawa Peace Forum) protested at the pier’s entrance and exit. Since the day before yesterday, they are shipping the earth and sand at the temporary storage yard first because the new year holidays start on 29. The shipping operation lasted till 8 pm.

They delivered 937 truckloads from the quarry, of which they loaded 419 truckloads to one cargo ship. The operation seems to continue tomorrow.
